HOW TO REGISTER
🐾Important: Joining the Long Dog Family
To keep our retreat peaceful and safe, we have a gentle induction process for all new guests.

Building Friendships: We specialise in regular boarding rather than one-off event stays (like weddings/parties etc). This helps our guests stay settled with friends they recognise.

The Induction Journey: Please allow up to 2 months for the full induction (forms, meets, and trials) before your first stay.

Short Notice? While we always try our best to fit you in ASAP, we prioritise your dog’s well-being and generally cannot fast-track the settling-in steps.

Need a one-off stay? If you are in a rush or only need a single night/one off stay, a solo pet-sitter might be a great alternative for 1-on-1 attention without the induction process.
STAGE 1- YOUR ENQUIRY

To begin the booking process, please review our Essential Info & T&Cs.

Once you've read them, please contact us through our website with your details.

We will email you our Boarding Agreement and guide you through the paperwork stage.
STAGE 2- DOG MEET & GREET
Once your paperwork is ready, we’ll invite your dachshund for a complimentary one-hour visit. This allows us to observe how they settle and interact with our resident group.

When: Weekdays at 10am or 2pm (Weekends by request).

The Virtual Tour: To keep our environment calm and minimal stress—especially for our IVDD guests—we’ll send you a video tour of our home and garden beforehand.

Drop-off: We’ll meet you at the gates. You can pop to the local café for a coffee or wait nearby while your dog enjoys their hour with us.

Stay Updated: We’ll send you video updates during the hour so you can see how they are settling in.
STAGE 3- TRIAL NIGHT/BUILD UP DAYS/DAYCARE
For Boarding:

The Trial Night: Most dogs proceed straight to a trial overnight stay.

A Gentle Start: For shy or anxious pups, we may suggest "build-up days" first. We’ll discuss the best plan for your dog's confidence.

Peace of Mind: We stay in close contact throughout. If your pup doesn't settle, we’ll let you know immediately. While trials are non-refundable, we are always happy to suggest alternative boarders who might be a better fit.
For Daycare:

Direct Entry: If your pup loves the daycare environment, they can start attending immediately following a successful meet-and-greet!
WELCOME TO THE LONG DOG FAMILY!
Once the trial stay is a success, your pup becomes a VIP guest!

Direct Booking: You can now contact us directly to book future holidays or daycare dates.

Travel Tip: We highly recommend ensuring your pet or holiday insurance covers boarding fees for cancellations. This gives you total peace of mind, no matter what life throws at you!
