Frequenty Asked Questions

Can i make a booking before a Meet & Greet or Trial Stay?

See below for more information: Yes. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your dates while the Meet & Greet and Overnight Trial are completed (ideally within 4 weeks). Your booking is confirmed once your pup passes their Trial. If they are not suitable, the deposit is not refundable. If successful, the deposit is deducted from your final balance.

How many dogs do you take?

See below for more information: We are licensed for 8 dog guests, plus two resident Dachshunds Dolly & Millie Moo.

What do i pack for my pup to stay?

See below for more information: To ensure your pup has a comfortable and enjoyable stay, please bring the following items: • Bed, blanket & crate (if used)  • A familiar-smelling item, (t-shirt or toy) • Feeding bowl • Measuring cup (if needed) • Your pup’s own food (to avoid tummy upsets) • Any medication (if applicable) • Special dietary food/treats • Harness for walks (not guaranteed) • For IVDD pups: any meds, supplements, supportive equipment, or daily‑use item  If you forget something — don’t worry. We have plenty of supplies.

Are children allowed at the hotel?

See below for more information: For everyone’s safety and comfort, no children under 16 may visit our home. Some visiting dogs can feel unsure around young children, and we want to keep the environment calm and positive for all.

What happens if my travel is delayed or cancelled including traffic delays?

See below for more information: If your flight is cancelled or delayed, please let me know as soon as possible. Any change that means you’re collecting or dropping off outside my usual hours will incur the standard out‑of‑hours fee. I must stay within my licensed numbers at all times to keep every dog safe and to ensure my insurance remains valid. Because of this, I can only accommodate extended stays or altered timings if I have space. If I can help, I absolutely will. If I can’t, or if you’d prefer not to pay the additional charges, your nominated emergency contact will need to collect your dog at no cost. You may be able to claim any additional boarding fees from your travel insurance if your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed. I’m always happy to provide an invoice or proof of stay if needed. 🚗 What if I’m delayed by traffic? Traffic delays are treated the same way. Please keep me updated on your arrival time. If your new time falls outside my usual hours, the out‑of‑hours fee applies. 🚫 What if my entire holiday is cancelled? If your holiday is cancelled before your final balance is due, you simply don’t pay the remainder — no further charges are applied. If your holiday is cancelled after the final balance has been paid, your booking becomes non‑refundable and non‑transferable, as outlined in section 16 of our Terms & Conditions. This is because your dog’s space has been held exclusively for you, and I’m unable to refill it at short notice. You may be able to claim these costs back through your travel insurance, and I’m always happy to provide an invoice or proof of booking if needed.

Frequenty Asked IVDD Questions

How do you keep IVDD pups safe at the hotel?

See below for more information: As Dachshund specialists, we understand the unique needs of pups who have experienced IVDD • Baby gates top & bottom of stairs • No sofa steps • Full ramp to the garden • Step‑free downstairs • Washable rugs for grip • Buggy for appropriate walks • Quiet rest areas available on request We are not a rehab centre, but we provide a peaceful, supportive environment for mild & moderate IVDD pups.

Do IVDD charges apply if my pup has recovered?

See below for more information:... Pups who’ve experienced IVDD before naturally need a little more hands‑on support and closer monitoring to keep them safe and comfortable during their stay. Because they’re at higher risk of a recurrence, their boarding rate is slightly higher to reflect the extra time, specialist handling, and attentive care they receive throughout the day. We understand you may have questions about pricing if your pup has a history of IVDD. Our Mild and Moderate care levels do apply, and you’ll find full details on our Prices page. Being open about your dog’s medical past and present helps us provide the safest, most appropriate care. Because we specialise in a calm, home‑from‑home environment and don’t accept overly wired or hyper dogs, our pricing reflects the extra support IVDD pups may need, even after recovery. This can include: - Administering medication - Extra human interaction and supervision - Monitoring for changes - Managing potential medical emergencies IVDD pups receive enhanced, specialist care during their stay — from careful lifting and movement support to more frequent wellbeing checks. Their rate simply reflects this additional level of monitoring, expertise, and the calm, attentive environment we maintain for their safety.

My dog has just gone down with IVDD, will you still take my pup for boarding?

See below for more information: I’m so sorry your little one is going through IVDD — it’s such a worrying time. Yes, I do welcome dachshunds who are recovering from mild–moderate IVDD, including wobble‑walkers and pups who need a bit of extra help with mobility or expressing. Every dog’s recovery is different, so before confirming a booking I’ll ask a few gentle questions about: - where they are in their recovery - what support they currently need - what your vet has advised This helps me make sure your pup will be safe, comfortable, and fully supported during their stay.

Would there be an increase in your charges for looking after my pup?

See below for more information: Yes — the price depends on the level of support your dachshund needs. • Mild IVDD (fully recovered dogs): £45 per night • Moderate IVDD (dogs needing extra care): £60 per night Before confirming a booking, I’ll chat with you about your pup’s needs or ask you to complete a short form. This helps me understand exactly what level of care they require going forward so I can place them in the right category for care. You’ll always know the full cost before your booking is confirmed

Could you continue to keep my pup crated if needed?

See below for more information: I’m very happy to continue your pup’s usual rest routine using a soft pen area. Many IVDD and mobility‑sensitive dachshunds find pens calmer and more comfortable, and they still provide the safe, contained space needed for rest and recovery. If your dog is already used to a pen at home, I’ll make sure their setup here feels familiar, cosy, and secure.

What would you do if my pup had an IVDD epidode with you?

See below for more information: If your pup becomes unwell during their stay, including an IVDD episode, we will respond immediately to keep them safe. We will: • Act at once • Give first aid if required • Contact you straight away • Contact your emergency contact if needed • Follow vet guidance and agree next steps with you Please refer to our T&Cs number 5 for further information. We provide the highest standard of care, but we cannot accept liability for injury, illness, death, or IVDD episodes unless caused by proven gross negligence. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

If I have to cancel my holiday/booking, will i get a refund?

See below for more information: If your pup develops IVDD before their stay, your booking follows my standard cancellation policy under my T&Cs at number 16. If I’m able to rebook your dog’s reserved dates with another client, I’ll refund the payment for any days that are successfully rebooked. I’ll let you know after your original holiday dates whether this was possible. Payments made to secure a booking are otherwise non‑refundable and non‑transferable, so I always recommend checking that your holiday or pet insurance covers any loss of boarding fees due to cancellations.

Do you take dogs that need expressing?

See below for more information: We're happy to discuss the specific needs of pups who require expressing. We do have experience expressing pups who require this service, but because each pup's anatomy and routines are unique, we will require: • A video • A short in‑person demonstration session This ensures we can do it safely and correctly for your pup.

What if my dog is on medication?

See below for more information: • We’re experienced in giving medications and are happy to follow your vet's instructions • We’ll follow your dog’s usual schedule for any prescribed or non‑prescribed meds, creams, sprays, or shampoos. • Please provide clear instructions for each medication, including dosage, frequency, and how it should be given. I’m not insured to give injections, and I’m also not able to take dogs to the vet for them. If your little one needs any injectable medication, this will need to be arranged with your vet before their stay. I’m very happy to give all oral medication as usual.
